  • How do I know if I'm getting the right size or type of system?

Firstly, think about how you use that building and what areas the system needs to heat and cool before you call your local air conditioner supplier. They will then be able to determine the correct type and capacity of system required, depending on factors such as, roof insulation, room size and usage, location of windows and sun exposure.

  • How often should I have my system serviced?

Regardless of the size or type of system you have, it should be serviced approximately once every 12-18 months. This will ensure the unit is running at maximum efficiency and lowers the risk of major breakdowns in the future. Other components, such as the filter, should be cleaned as often as once a month for high-use commercial systems.

  • What is the most energy efficient temperature to set my air conditioner?

At Jervis Bay Air Conditioning, we recommend setting your unit between 24°C–26°C during the summer period. Every degree lower than that can increase your running costs by up to 15%. When using a reverse cycle unit in winter, set it to 20°C or 21°C. Please note there are other factors which may affect your energy usage.

  • Is my current power supply enough to run my new air conditioner?

Depending on the size and energy use of your new system, you may need to upgrade or configure your existing power setup. This is often an issue for older buildings and may result in overloaded consumer mains if ignored. Your air conditioner technician can advise you of the power requirements of any system they install and may advise contacting an electrician.
